“Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'” Matthew 6:31

 “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew 6:34

Do not worry means…do not worry.

The Bible tells us to “Cast all your care upon Him because He cares for you” 1 Peter 5:7; “Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward.” Hebrews 10:35.

We do not want to reverse the process: casting away our confidence and carrying all our care! It is His desire that we roll all our burden on Him and not be anxious about anything...Most of our time and energy go into carrying what God asked us to cast on Him…You keep your confidence. He’ll keep your cares! –from Vance Havner

Don’t be afraid of God’s reproof, it is something that He will use to bring you back to the place of peace.

Reproof is like a sheep dog rounding up a straying sheep and bringing him back into the fold.

In the center of His hand you find the center of His will; in the center of His will you find the center of His peace; in the center of His peace you find the center of His love; in the center of His love you find the center of His heart.

“My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand.” John 10:29 NKJV

There are two things that often rob us of peace. One is incomplete obedience to the will of God, and the second is going beyond the will of God. It’s important to go when He says “Go”, and it’s equally important to stop when He says, “Stop”. – F.B. Meyer

The peace of God is the atmosphere He wants you to live in.
Joy is a flame of the Holy Spirit within us. Fretting is like a giant fire extinguisher that quenches the flame.

If you are heavy laden, come and receive Jesus’ easy yoke; if you are stressed, come and receive Jesus’ light burden; if you are weary, come and receive Jesus’ rest. When you are yoked to Jesus you are not yoked to heaviness, drudgery, or despair.

Celebrate the Lord today and delight to do His will. There is no Scripture that says, “If you enjoy what you are doing, you must be out of God’s will.”
“I delight to do Your will, O my God…” Psalm 40:8 NKJV

“On My arm they will trust.” Isa. 51:5

Even when you don’t have a leg to stand on,
His arm will always be there to lean upon!

Sometimes a Light Surprises

Sometimes a light surprises
The Christian while he sings;
It is the Lord, who rises
With healing in His wings:

When comforts are declining,
He grants the soul again
A season of clear shining,
To cheer it after rain.

In holy contemplation,
We sweetly then pursue
The theme of God’s salvation,
And find it ever new:
Set free from present sorrow,
We cheerfully can say,
E’en let the unknown morrow
Bring with it what it may.

It can bring with it nothing,
But He will bear us through;
Who gives the lilies clothing,
Will clothe His people too:
Beneath the spreading heavens,
No creature but is fed;
And He who feeds the ravens
Will give His children bread.

-William Cowper

Breathe through the heats of our desire
Thy coolness and Thy balm;
Let sense be dumb, let flesh retire;
Speak through the earthquake, wind, and fire,
O still, small Voice of calm!

God does have a plan and purpose for your life. He is in all the details. It’s those who count on luck and chance that have a good reason to worry.

O Thou Who art my quietness, my deep repose,
My rest from strife of tongues, my holy hill,
Fair is Thy pavilion, where I hold me still.
Back let them fall from me, my clamorous foes,
Confusions multiplied;
From crowding things of sense I flee, and in thee hide.
-Amy Carmichael

“Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father's will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.” Matthew 10:29-31

Be patient, we don’t need to know everything right now. In this life we won’t be able to resolve every question, solve every problem, or understand every situation. In time, everything will be made clear.

“For we know in part and we prophesy in part. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.” 1 Corinthians 13:9,12

Not every promise of God is intended for now. Some things will be for another time and another season. We don’t need to fret over God’s timetable. We will inherit all the promises of God through faith and patience.

 “For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.” Romans 8:18

As John upon his dear Lord’s breast,
So would I lean, so would I rest;
As empty shell in depths of sea,
So would I sink, be filled with Thee.

And so though daily duties crowd,
And dust of earth be like a cloud,
Through noise of words, O Lord, my Rest,
Thy John would lean upon Thy breast.
-Amy Carmichael

“Cast your burden upon the Lord, and He shall sustain you.” Psalm 55:22

“Worry, if carried to excess, has the nature of sin in it. The precept to avoid worry is repeated frequently by our Savior. It is reiterated by the apostles. It is a principle which cannot be neglected without involving transgression. We labor to take on ourselves our weary burden, as if He were unable or unwilling to take it for us. He who cannot calmly leave his affairs in God’s hand is very likely to be tempted to use wrong means to help himself. Anxiety makes us doubt God’s lovingkindness, and our love for Him grows cold. We feel mistrust and grieve the Spirit of God. If we cast each burden as it comes on Him and we are “careful for nothing” because He undertakes to care for us, it will keep us close to Him.” - C.H. Spurgeon

“The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day.” Exodus 1

“Enough for that day.” That word completely takes away all care for tomorrow. Only today is yours; tomorrow is the Father’s. Manna, as your food and strength, is given only by the day; to faithfully fill the present is your only security for the future. His presence and grace enjoyed today will remove all doubt as to whether you can entrust tomorrow to Him, too. Each new morning, He meets you with the promise of sufficient manna for the day.” –Andrew Murray

God won’t say or do anything for the purpose of frustrating you, making you anxious, causing you to panic, or filling you with fear.

Fret Buster # 37

The Bible says, “The just shall live by faith,” it doesn’t say, “The just shall live by fear.” The Word of God builds faith; fear builds worry.

Count on God in everything you do, in every circumstance you’re in, in every need you face, in every decision you make. Never think about anything apart from Him.

Factor God into everything you do, into every circumstance of life, and into every decision you make.

Take “I can’t” out of your vocabulary and replace it with “God can”.

“But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6

If you ever see a lily toiling or a bird storing up food in a barn, then you will know that the time to worry has arrived.

That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith?” Matthew 6:25-30 NLT

When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you! Patient endurance is what you need now, so that you will continue to do God’s will. Then you will receive all that he has promised. Hebrews 10:35-36 NLT
