Just Think
In today’s posting I would like to share with you the story behind the writing of the Just Think message I wrote for DaySpring Cards.
As I sat in my office one afternoon I was handed a folder by someone in marketing. In the folder was a job ticket requesting that I write a general greeting card message appropriate for someone’s birthday. I wasn’t sure where to begin, but I wanted to write something that would connect people with the heart of God. As I thought and quietly prayed, two things began to influence the direction of the card message I would write.
The first influence was the teaching of evolution. It was a subject that had been on my mind for several weeks. I was concerned about the impact this teaching was having upon people’s lives. “There are so many people who find life meaningless,” I thought, “they need to know that life is not about chance, but that God has created them for a purpose.”
The second influence was a Scripture passage I read in Acts 13:36, “For David…served his own generation by the will of God…” This passage was a powerful reminder that each person can fulfill the will of God in his or her generation.
As I thought about these two different things, they soon began to blend together to form the card message I wrote that day. I titled it Just Think.
Just Think.
Just think, you’re here not by chance, but by God’s choosing.
His hand formed you and made you the person you are.
He compares you to no one else—you are one of a kind.
You lack nothing that His grace can’t give you.
He has allowed you to be here at this time in history
to fulfill His special purpose for this generation.
The Just Think message is based upon three main Bible passages. They are as follows:
1. Just think, you’re here not by chance, but by God’s choosing. His hand formed you and made you the person you are. He compares you to no one else—you are one of a kind.
Psalm 139:13-15 NLT, “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.”
2. You lack nothing that His grace can’t give you.
“And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” 2 Corinthians 9:8 NKJV
3. He has allowed you to be here at this time in history to fulfill His special purpose for this generation.
Acts 13:36 KJV, “For David…served his own generation by the will of God…”

This is a wonderful birthday present for my birthday tomorrow. Since I subscribed to your posts recently, I have found so many of your inspirations perfect for what I am experiencing each day. Then I love them so much I share them at my Wed Bible study with my friends.
But today's message was just for me, I know it. For years my favorite Psalm has been 139, and as the perfect gift for my birthday, you shared your birthday verse with 139 as its basis. Thank you so much, it means so much to read it on my day. Our God gives and surprises us everyday with his love and wisdom. He opened my eyes to your devotional, and then He gives me the opportunity to read your thoughtful, loving, inspiration on my birthday.

Roy;
Just yesterday I hung your "Just Think" message on the wall in my office. I brought it home some time ago, but it sat for awhile on my shelf, before I hung it. While hanging it,I re-read it. It is so individually & uniquely inspiring! I see the timing of your message in 'Meet Me In The Meadow' as a reminder of the uniqueness of God's Word for each of us. Thank you!

Regarding the third part of the message, another scripture that came to my mind was the closing phrase in Esther 4:14: "...who knoweth whether thou art come to the kingdom for such a time as this?" "Just Think" is my favorite of all the wonderful things you've written. THANK YOU!

I Love this rendering : Just Think . My thought; what a beautiful , complete story. It takes me to Psalm 139 in total. The card design is lovely. I can "see"that put together as well in a "Tract" form (and affordable also) I am Evangelistic and I have given Tracts to persons wherever I met them. A beautiful card indeed. It is my first choice to purchase it as needed to witness: "Just Think"; how special. Thanks , Roy . Doris Black

I got this message in my email on the very day I was questioning my purpose, if I really made any difference or if I was just another person to count in the census. I usually stand firm on Eph 2:10 but here lately my confidence of who I am in Christ Jesus has started to crumble.
I want to thank you for writing "Just Think" I am standing a bit taller today because of your reminder of Gods word.

My birthday is in 2 days. March 3rd. I am feeling horribly blue. I have been in prayer asking for Sunshine for my soul. This sentiment is a start.
Thank you.

I received much from this one: a powerful edifying message; and practical teaching. I love seeing how you sought and heard from the Holy Spirit put the whole message together. Thanks for the message and the teaching.
Blessings,
Joan

Thanks for the "Just think"
I have given this as a birthday present to my sisters in church.
Thinking about how the Lord created me is really touching.
Recently, i really found myself losing in the connection with God as well as people. Feeling lost in working, future, the past and what i desire to do.
Thanks God for reminding me his creation ad his will.
I hope I can really find the purpose and fullfill the will of God in me.

You cannot imagine how your little book "Just Think" has blessed so many women. In 2007, I hosted a womens' luncheon based on God-esteem and self-esteem and gave this wonderful book as gifts to over 100 women. Even days and weeks after the luncheon, mature as well as young women were thanking me for blessing them with this book. I must tell you I had read this book prior to giving it away and was blessed myself that I couldn't keep it to myself and was fortunate enough at that time to share this blessing with so many other women. So, I thank you for this and I thank God for how He works in so many mysterious ways. In 2008, I found the "Just Think" mugs and was able to bless some women with them. Thank you and may God continue to bless you.
