The Voice of the Lord
His voice was like the sound of many waters. Revelation 1:15
God speaks. His voice is as loud as thunder and as soft as a whisper. His voice is recognizable to His children and as clear as a pure mountain stream. His voice is as soothing as the words of a mother speaking comfort to her hurting child; as assuring as the words of a father speaking courage to a fearful child.
God’s voice is like the sound of no other. It is a peaceful voice (Psalm 85:8), a healing voice (Psalm 107:20), a seeking voice (Genesis 3:9), a merciful voice (Numbers 7:89), a majestic voice (Psalm 29:4), a calling voice (Isaiah 6:8), an affirming voice (Matthew 3:17), a great voice (Revelation 1:10). We need to seek His voice, listen to His voice, respond to His voice, follow His voice, and trust His voice.
We do not need to avoid or fear the voice of God. Everything He has to say to us is true, is good, is loving, and is life giving. When His words are found we can eat them, for they are the joy and rejoicing of our hearts (Jeremiah 15:16).
C.S. Lewis shares the following experience his wife had in being reluctant to listen to God’s voice. “She was haunted all one morning as she went about her work with the obscure sense of God (so to speak) ‘at her elbow,’ demanding her attention. And of course, not being a perfected saint, she had the feeling that it would be a question, as it usually is, of some unrepented sin or tedious duty. At last she gave in—I know one puts it off—and faced Him. But the message was, ‘I want to give you something’ and instantly she entered into joy.”
When God spoke with Abraham He said, “I am your exceeding great reward.” Now that is the best thing anyone could ever hear. You need to hear that deep within your spirit today. You need to hear God speak to you. Put out all other sounds, all other noises, all other voices. Listen to Him as He says, “You are my child. You are mine and I give myself to you.”
Good Morning - what a blessing to have ran across "meet me in the meadow: the voice of the Lord" this morning, i had saved in my 'favorites" - i was looking for something when i click on this. I needed to hear this word this morning, can't believe how we can suddenly find ourselves feeling 'disconnected - we know it's 'us' because He has promised to never forsake us and never leave us. Thank you so much for 'reminding' me - God is always with me and waiting to talk to me. God bless you and yours always.

A few years ago I was mentoring a small group of high school students (guys). One of them said, "Rick, when I talk with God it's like speaking to him on a long-distance phone call." My reply: "Sam (not his real name), you're listening too hard, he's the one standing right next to you...he's on your end of the line." God's voice is everything you said it is, Roy...he is right here with us all of the time.

Good morning. I never knew this place "In the Meadow" existed and I was just browsing the DaySpring website this morning and found it. I can't tell you how this just made me stop and reflect on what God has done for me and how much He truly does love us. I needed to hear this and I know God knows exactly what we need and at the right time. How amazing He truly is!!Thank you so much for the reminder
